The current Fiesta is the best so far, with more room inside, smart mini-Focus body styling, very enjoyable handling and low running costs. It's an excellent all-round supermini choice.

Straße Test
This Fiesta is five inches longer than the preceding generation. The extra length allows a more family-friendly interior. There's adequate rear legroom for the first time, and the neatly styled cabin feels roomy and welcoming. Load space is adequate and the rear seat backs are split for extra flexibility. Exterior styling is sharper than before, and handling is near the top of this class. It's nimble, responsive and thoroughly confident thanks to good roadholding. The suspension set-up that enables this produces some bump and thump at low speeds, but it's a small price to pay. The 1.25 Zetec and the old 1.3 have to work hard to shift the bigger body; the 1.4 petrol unit is adequate, and the modern 1.4 TDCi pulls willingly. The 100 bhp 1.6 invites spirited driving. Some rivals have more equipment, but used prices are competitive. Fuel economy is good and service costs are low.
